1. Run the Kakao T app (install)
To use Kakao Taxi, run the ‘Kakao T’ app and select ‘Taxi’. The ‘Kakao T’ app can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.

The following is how to call a Kakao Taxi. To call Kakao Taxi, you need to enter the departure point and destination.
The origin is automatically set to the current GPS location of your phone. If you have a GPS error or want to take a taxi from a different location, you can move ‘From’ on the map to get to the desired location. 좋은 뉴스

Then search for a destination. You can enter the exact word or just the initial consonant if the destination is long. Find a suitable destination from the search results and click ‘Arrival’.

3. Select car model & call
After the destination is decided, the route is searched and the estimated time of arrival is inquired. Select the type of taxi, select medium/large size, and select ‘call’.
Kakao Taxi-Type
If you choose a regular call, the same price as a regular taxi fare is applied, and there are also Kakao taxis that are slightly more expensive, such as ‘Blue’ or ‘Venti’, but have special benefits.
The characteristics of each type of Kakao Taxi are summarized below. For reference, the ‘smart calling’ system, which pays a fee and dispatches cars first, was abolished in 21 years.

Kakao Blue is operated by drivers selected and trained by Kakao. As a first-time experience, the driver is very friendly and the vehicle is comfortable, so I recommend it.
The taxi fare is the same as the metered fare of a regular medium-sized taxi, but the Blue fare can be up to 3,000 won (maximum) (depending on the usage time).

Kakao Venti is a service that dispatches spacious multi-seater vehicles (such as Carnival). Currently, calls can be made only in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon areas, and only automatic payment is available.
You can reserve Kakao Venti in one-hour increments and set intermediate stops.
The fare is calculated by adding both the street fare and the hourly fare, and then applying a flexible surcharge of 0.8 to 2.0 times considering the time and traffic conditions.
Basic fare: 4,000 won (1.5km)
Distance fee: 100 won / 123m
Time fee: 100 won / 40 seconds
Elasticity premium: 0.8 times ~ 2.0 times

Kakao Black is the Kakao version of the model taxi. A driver in a suit drives a luxury (large) sedan without a ‘taxi’ sign, and is often used as a ceremonial or wedding car.
This service is available for departures from Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gwangmyeong, Incheon International Airport, Busan, and Gyeongnam, and the fare calculation method is the same as that of Kakao Venti.
Basic fare: 6,000 won (1.5km)
Distance Fee: 100 won / 71.4m
Time fee: 100 won / 15 seconds
Elasticity premium: 0.7 to 4.0 times
There are no restrictions on the time of use of Kakao Taxi. However, keep in mind that Kakao Blue or Venti may be dispatched only when a nearby driver or vehicle is available.
4. Dispatching and moving to destination
When the call is completed, the dispatch will proceed immediately. In my experience, most trains are dispatched within 1 minute, but there are some deviations, such as taking 10 minutes or more for commuting time.

When the assignment is complete, the following screen appears. You can check the vehicle identification number of Kakao Taxi, and you can also contact the driver. If you click ‘Cancel Call’, the use of Kakao Taxi will be canceled.

5. Drop off and payment
When you arrive at your destination, payment will be made automatically with the payment method set in the ‘call’ step. Please note that there is no need to calculate separately.
It is an automatic payment, but there are often reviews that the driver paid twice. In this case, you can receive a refund by submitting a receipt or card approval letter to the customer center.

Occasionally, you may have to pay directly to the driver by post-payment. The card registered as a payment method may have been suspended.
In this case, click payment information in the Kakao Taxi ‘call’ step, scroll to the far right of the payment method, select ‘Direct payment’, and click ‘Apply’.
